About OFOTO
OFOTO is an independent Slovak guide to photographic printing, paper, colour, framing, and preserving and displaying photographs.
What OFOTO does
It explains what happens to a photograph between the file and the wall: how many pixels a given print size needs, which paper suits which purpose, why prints come out darker than the screen, how to frame, and how to preserve a family archive. It also offers five tools in the Lab, which run directly in your browser.
What OFOTO does not do
- it does not sell, print, frame or take orders,
- it carries no advertising, sponsored articles or affiliate links,
- it has no business relationship with the manufacturers whose products it mentions,
- it uses no cookies and no analytics.
The domain and its history
The ofoto.sk domain was once home to a print and framing lab offering large-format and Fine Art printing, photo prints on board, mounts and an online photo-frame configurator. Today’s OFOTO has no operational or ownership connection with that lab; it shares only the subject. Where the old addresses made sense, we kept them and gave them new content, for example the guide to Fine Art papers and Frame Lab (in Slovak at their original addresses). Addresses with no equivalent today (the gallery, the shop’s complaints terms) return status 410: the content has been permanently removed.
Who prepares the content
The content is prepared by OFOTO, which is responsible for it. How articles are produced and how we correct mistakes is described in the Editorial policy and on the Corrections page.
The English version
OFOTO was written in Slovak. The English version contains the same information, adapted for English-speaking readers: units stay metric, and where a source is not in English, we say so next to it.
Name and tagline: OFOTO — From Pixel to Print (Slovak: Od pixelu k fotografii na stene).
