Size on the wall
Most people picture a print on the wall as smaller than it really is, or else larger. Here everything is at one scale: the wall, the furniture, a person and the photograph.

Reference furniture sizes: a desk 120 cm wide and 75 cm high, a sofa 200 × 85 cm, a bed 160 cm wide with a 100 cm headboard, a chest of drawers 160 × 80 cm, a person 175 cm tall. The photograph hangs 20 cm above the furniture. The “about two thirds of the furniture width” rule is a convention from interior design, not a standard. Sizes are without frame or mount, which make the picture larger; see Frame Lab.
Working with the result
Above furniture, the usual advice is a picture or group of pictures about two thirds of the furniture’s width, with a gap of 15 to 25 cm above it. If a single photograph comes out too small, you have three options: a larger print, a wider mount and frame, or two or three photographs side by side.
On a wall without furniture, the convention is to put the centre of the picture at about 145 to 152 cm. More in The gallery wall. The print size calculator works out how many pixels the chosen size needs.
